Hope House. A chance to rebuild after domestic abuse.

Our Origin and Mission

Hope House was born from a single phone call – a desperate plea for help from a young woman fleeing oppression. This call opened our eyes to the urgent need in our community.

Today, we're working tirelessly to create a safe haven for women. And YOU can be part of what’s happening here!

Our mission is to provide a faith-based transitional home for women rebuilding their lives after escaping domestic abuse. We offer a healing environment, multifaceted educational experiences, counseling, and spiritual and emotional support.

Why Hope House is Needed

Domestic violence has reached epidemic proportions in Cumberland Valley communities. While emergency shelters offer immediate safety, there's a critical need for affordable housing and ongoing care.

Hope House fills this gap, offering a unique solution for survivors.

Our Approach

At Hope House, it’s understood that healing from trauma requires time and holistic support.

This program is designed to nurture every aspect of a survivor's journey to independence:

  • Affordable, Safe Housing

Providing a nurturing home where women can focus on recovery without financial strain. Keeping costs low while ensuring the home is self-sustaining offers stability in a time of turmoil.

  • Trauma-Informed Care

Professional counseling and emotional support address deep-seated issues, helping women rediscover their strength and worth.

  • Life Skills Education

Through workshops on financial literacy, job readiness, and personal development, women are equipped with the tools to build confident, independent lives.

  • Spiritual Nourishment

Residents are welcomed to explore their personal faith and their worth as individuals loved by God.

  • Community Support

Fostering connections with other survivors and caring volunteers creates a network of understanding and encouragement.

  • Personalized Growth Plans

Personal attention given to each resident helps her develop a tailored plan and set achievable goals that pave the way for long-term success.

Within 1-2 years, the women you support gain the courage, skills, and resources to build independent lives characterized by confidence and autonomy.

Most importantly, they'll learn that they have value, significance, and purpose!

"I dealt with a psychotic abuser... I had to get out but had no place to go and no money! I couldn't let my son grow up seeing this and thinking this was normal."

Join Our Mission

Your involvement with Hope House creates ripples of change that extend far beyond our walls. When you support this work, you're not just offering a temporary fix – you're providing the foundation for a woman to rebuild her entire world.

You’re also changing the course of children’s lives, impacting future generations.

Imagine the joy you'll feel knowing that your generosity helped a mother find the strength to leave her abuser for good.

Think of the peace and empowerment you can give hurting women and children when, because of your support, a woman is waking up in her own apartment, getting ready for her own job, free from fear and full of hope for her future.

These aren't just platitudes – they're the real-life outcomes of your compassion in action. With every donation, every volunteer hour, every shared post, you're saying to a survivor:

"I see you. I believe in you. And I'm standing with you as you reclaim your life."
