Empowering Survivors, Rebuilding Lives

You can help victims of domestic oppression become empowered survivors.

Whether we realize it or not, most of us know someone affected by domestic oppression. As many as 1 in 3 women in the United States face domestic abuse yearly.

Maybe you're a survivor yourself.

If so, you know the overwhelming challenges after escaping:

  • Finding safe, affordable housing with no savings or credit

  • Rebuilding self-worth after years of emotional trauma

  • Creating stability for your children while struggling to get back on your feet

These are the exact challenges Hope House addresses.

The #1 Obstacle: Affordable Housing

The primary reason many women return to their abusers is a lack of affordable housing.

84% of survivors in domestic violence shelters need help finding affordable housing.

This is especially difficult for women who may:

  • Have no job or savings

  • Have damaged credit due to their abuser's actions

  • Lack a credit history if everything was in their abuser's name

Why Aren't Emergency Shelters Enough?

Emergency shelters provide crucial immediate safety, but they're not long-term solutions. Women often must find new accommodations within a few days or weeks.

I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord; plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

-Jeremiah 29:11

Here’s how YOU can be involved

You have an opportunity right now to help these courageous women transform from victims into victorious survivors.

Introducing Hope House

Hope House of Cumberland Valley is the first transitional home for DV survivors in our county.

It fills the critical gap between emergency shelter and permanent housing for women who have fled abuse. You can be part of creating a safe, supportive home where women and their children can heal and learn to thrive.

Imagine a communal living space where 8-10 women and their children enjoy:

  • Their own room in a secure building

  • A safe space for children to play

  • Counseling to reclaim self-confidence

  • Group support sessions

  • Life skills workshops

  • Job search assistance

  • Financial literacy education

  • Full-time, on-site support staff

Your Gift Makes a Difference

We have the property – a beautiful 13,000 sq. ft. building! Once we have zoning approval, we'll start renovations.

Your gift will help transform this building into a nurturing home.

Other ways your donation can help:

  • $50 provides a welcome kit for a new resident

  • $100 funds a series of financial literacy workshops

  • $250 covers a month of counseling sessions

  • $500 furnishes a resident's room

More than that, your support gives women the priceless gifts of safety, dignity, and hope.
